The National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India Limited (NCCF) is set to embark on a transformative journey to achieve self-reliance, with Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah providing a roadmap during his address to the Board of Directors in New Delhi.

Shri Shah underscored the importance of NCCF reaching a turnover of Rs 50,000 crore by the fiscal year 2027-28, emphasizing that the cooperative should focus on expanding its membership base, particularly by integrating Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and other cooperative institutions nationwide. This strategic move aims to enhance the proportion of cooperatives in NCCF’s capital structure, ensuring a more robust cooperative movement.

The Minister of Cooperation commended NCCF for playing a pivotal role in realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahakar se Samriddhi.’ Acknowledging the transformative leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Shri Shah highlighted that the Ministry of Cooperation has undertaken 52 initiatives in the last 26 months to strengthen the cooperative movement and elevate the share of cooperatives in the country’s GDP.

Shri Amit Shah called upon NCCF to chart a comprehensive 10-year roadmap towards self-reliance, assuring full support from the Ministry of Cooperation in its implementation. Special emphasis was placed on the procurement of maize from farmers in Gujarat, Bihar, and other states, aligning with the government’s commitment to ethanol production. The Minister suggested if NCCF and NAFED so desire, Ministry of Cooperation can help them get their common App prepared on a digital platform from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and this App can be utilized to coordinate procurement of maize.

In a significant move, the Union Home Minister urged NCCF to explore export opportunities for pulses purchased from farmers, ensuring adherence to Minimum Support Price (MSP) guidelines. He advocated for an aggressive extension and marketing strategy, including prior assurances to farmers and the establishment of common collection centers.

Shri Amit Shah proposed collaboration between NCCF and PACS for the purchase of onions and pulses, leveraging the world’s largest storage scheme in the cooperative sector. Additionally, he encouraged the exploration of export opportunities for various agricultural products, specifically highlighting the purchase and export of rice through the National Cooperative Export Limited (NECL).

Committing to the ambitious targets set by the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, NCCF Chairman Shri Vishal Singh expressed confidence in the organization’s ability to achieve these milestones. The meeting, attended by Shri Gyanesh Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, and Ms. Anice Joseph Chandra, Managing Director, NCCF, concluded with a shared commitment to driving the cooperative movement towards greater self-reliance and prosperity.
