Aizawl: The Mizoram State Cooperative Marketing & Consumers’ Federation Limited (MIZOFED) and National Co-operative Exports Limited (NCEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday to strengthen cooperative-led export activities from Mizoram.
The MoU was signed in Aizawl in the presence of the Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Cooperation, and Irrigation & Water Resources, Pu P. C. Vanlalruata, along with Registrar of Cooperatives Pu John L. T. Sanga and Pu Udit Prakash Rai (IAS), Commissioner and Secretary, Cooperation Department.
The agreement was signed by Pu Unupom Kausik, Managing Director, NCEL, and Pu Lalhruaitluanga, Managing Director, MIZOFED.
Focus on export-oriented cooperative products
According to the official release, the MoU aims to create a long-term framework for collaboration between the two organisations to promote export-ready products developed by cooperatives in Mizoram. Key areas of cooperation include:
- Identification and promotion of export-worthy commodities produced by cooperative societies
- Development of market linkages and facilitation of procurement
- Creation of sustainable value chains in agriculture and allied sectors
- Participation in national and international trade fairs to showcase cooperative products from Mizoram
Strengthening market access for cooperative sector
Officials said the partnership is expected to improve market access for cooperative producers, strengthen supply chains, and enhance the visibility of Mizoram’s agricultural and allied products in domestic and international markets.
The collaboration aligns with broader national efforts to promote cooperative-led exports and integrate regional producers into global value chains.
