A one-day fisheries training programme was held in Tezu, Lohit district, drawing participation from over 150 farmers and stakeholders across Lohit, Anjaw, Lower Dibang Valley, and Namsai districts. The programme was organized by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) in collaboration with the Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC), Gurugram.

Conducted in coordination with the Departments of Fisheries and Cooperation, Lohit district, the training aimed to enhance the capacity and technical knowledge of fish farmers and cooperative members on modern aquaculture practices, sustainable fisheries management, and the role of cooperatives in boosting productivity and income.

Lohit Deputy Commissioner K.N. Damo, who addressed the gathering, urged participants to fully utilize NCDC’s schemes and training programmes to strengthen their livelihoods through organized cooperative efforts.

District Cooperative Union Chairman Sohail Kri stressed the significance of building robust local cooperative institutions to support long-term sustainable development.

Experts from LINAC and NCDC conducted technical sessions, offering guidance on financial assistance options, government support schemes, and cooperative models specific to the fisheries sector. Officials from the district’s fisheries and cooperation departments also interacted with participants, encouraging the formation and strengthening of fishery cooperatives.

The event served as a platform for knowledge exchange and was an important step in aligning grassroots fisheries development with the broader vision of cooperative-led rural growth.
