In India, cooperative societies with objects confined to one state are governed by the cooperative laws of the respective state, while those with objects in multiple states are governed by the central law i.e. the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002, MSCS (Amendment) Act, 2023, MSCS Rules, 2002 and MSCS (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
