In a historic moment for India’s cooperative movement, Amul and IFFCO have been ranked first and second globally among the world’s top cooperatives. The recognition marks a major milestone for India’s cooperative sector, reflecting its growing global influence and success.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated both organizations, calling India’s cooperative sector “vibrant and transformative” and reaffirming the government’s commitment to “further encourage this sector in the times to come.”
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah hailed the achievement as “a proud moment for Bharat,” praising the tireless dedication of millions of women and farmers who power these cooperatives. He emphasized that this success symbolizes India’s cooperative model as a global example of empowerment and self-reliance — true to the spirit of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.”
The Ministry of Cooperation lauded the achievement as a “landmark moment”, highlighting that the success of Amul and IFFCO is a global endorsement of Prime Minister Modi’s vision to rejuvenate India’s cooperative economy and give it a modern, sustainable edge.
This recognition not only celebrates two of India’s most successful cooperatives but also strengthens India’s position as a global leader in the cooperative movement, driven by community, inclusivity, and shared prosperity.
