The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has announced the appointment of Shri Dileep Sanghani, Chairman of IFFCO, as the Chair of its Committee on Cooperatives. The move reflects the Chamber’s growing recognition of the cooperative sector as a vital pillar in India’s economic and social architecture.
His appointment signals a strategic shift within PHDCCI to mainstream cooperative enterprises in India’s broader business ecosystem.
Over the years, cooperatives have played a transformative role in empowering farmers, enhancing rural incomes, and strengthening local economies. Yet, they have often operated in silos, away from the corporate mainstream. With the Centre’s renewed focus on “Sahakar Se Samriddhi” and the Ministry of Cooperation driving reforms in governance, digitalization, and scale efficiency, the time is ripe for closer alignment between cooperatives and corporates. Speaking on the occasion, Sanghani emphasized the need to build a resilient, self-reliant cooperative ecosystem aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. His call for stronger Cooperative–Corporate synergy points to an emerging trend — where the cooperative ethos of inclusivity meets the corporate drive for innovation and efficiency.
