In order to restore trust in hiring process in cooperative banks, Maharashtra government has directed that all recruitment for District Central Cooperative (DCC) Banks be conducted only through recognised agencies — IBPS, TCS-iON or MKCL. The decision follows complaints from citizens and public representatives about irregularities in past recruitments handled by local agencies, reports HT. A Srinagar court has sentenced Muhammad Shafi Banday, former Managing Director of the J&K Cooperative Central Land Development Bank Ltd, to two years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹5,000 for forging his date of birth to unlawfully extend his tenure in service.
