The foundation stone for a 250 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) cattle feed plant of NDDB Dairy Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), was virtually laid during the Agrovision event in Nagpur. The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan. NDDB Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah and officials from NDDB Dairy Services were also present.
Following the virtual ceremony, NDDB Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah performed the bhoomi poojan at the project site in MIDC Butibori, Nagpur. He was joined by Dr. C.P. Devanand, Managing Director, NDDB Dairy Services, and Raghu Mallegowda, Executive Director, NDDB Dairy Services.
The upcoming plant, which can be expanded to 500 MTPD, will include a 12 TPD mineral mixture facility and will be equipped with advanced automated technologies. The facility aims to ensure a steady supply of quality cattle feed to dairy farmers in Vidarbha, Marathwada and neighbouring regions.
According to NDDB Dairy Services, the project is expected to benefit over one lakh dairy farmers associated with Marathvarhad Milk Producer Company and Indujaa. By improving access to reliable and affordable feed ingredients, the initiative seeks to reduce dependence on private suppliers and enhance productivity at the farm level.
The development reinforces NDDB’s focus on strengthening cooperative-led dairy infrastructure and supporting sustainable growth for farmers across Maharashtra.
